內容簡介This study investigated corrosion improvements due to better control of the boundary interaction layer between glass melt and refractory material. The atmosphere within the interfacial glass-refractory layer and in the furnace influences the degree of corrosion. Pressure-less infiltration was used to add metal ions within porous refractory material. This caused oxygen depression in the pores of the refractory which increased the surface tension and viscosity of the glass melt during static finger tests. This condition inhibited interaction of the refractory material with the glass melt and resulted in less refractory corrosion. During dynamic finger tests this effect was less apparent. The atmosphere of the furnace was a more important influence than the atmosphere in the pores. In dynamic testing, refractory corrosion by using nitrogen as the furnace atmosphere.
