內容簡介To remain competitive the German refractories industry has to drive innovation by bridging practial knowledge with focused research. Only if well educated people are available this can be made happened. At present the the German refractory industry suffers a lack of young people. Within the past five years an integrating education concept has been developed in the German State Rhineland-Palatinate to ensure a sustainable provision of young and best-skilled craftsmen, technicians and engineers to the ceramics and specifically the refractory Industry. The key target is to enlarge steadily a sophisticated network between education, science and the refractory industry to fulfill the refractories industry's demands. With the inauguration of the European Centre for Refractories and Technical Ceramics (ECREF) in April 2013 an important milestone was reached (see text box below).
