內容簡介The No. 2 continuous casting shop (No. 2CC) in the Kure Works of Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd.. (Kure Works) is mainly producing slabs of ordinary steel and holds a record for maximum duration of non-stop casting for 10 days by using two tundish cars in alternate shifts. Pouring of molten steel from ladle to tundish is carried out through a shroud tube. With the aim of cost reduction through service life extension, a reuse system of the shroud tube has been worked out. However, in this case there are sometimes troubles such as crack generation and/or exfoliation occurring in the lining material of the inner bore of the reused tube. Furthermore. continuing damage at the slagline portion of the outer circumference sometimes initiates and progresses at the cracked portion, and in the worst-case even a fenestration accident develops. This event is the formation of a small hole or a fin opening within the inner tube that becomes enlarged by corrosion resulting in molten steel leaking out and passing through the opening.
