內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介The ALAFAR 2012 congress was held from 5-8 November in Cancun/MX. The ALAFAR President Genaro F. Cueva Domene/Nutec Group (Fig. 1) welcomed nearly 180 attendees. ALAFAR, the Latin American Association of Refractory Manufacturers, is an association that brings together the leading Latin American producers of refractory materials. It currently has 35 members (manufacturers) and 14 adherent members (suppliers of raw materials and services). For the first time at the ALAFAR Congress, an award of USD 15 000 in total was given to the authors of the best three papers presented. This incentive attracted speakers from North America and Europe, and ensured a high standard of the presentations. With 40 technical lectures, three plenary talks and a raw materials forum with seven experts from the suppliers industry, a comprehensive programme was offered. With the financial support of Possehl Erzkontor, Alteo, Yangquan Rulaishan, Caec, Almatis, ACC Resources, Kerneos, Prince Minerals, CE Minerals, Cementos Molins, Penoles and Morgan, a high-level social programme set the scene for various highlights (welcome beach party, Mayan evening and farewell banquet) in the social programme. The history of the Mayan culture on the Yucatan peninsula was part of the schedule of the companions' programme.
