內(nèi)容簡介Alumina buildup in the continuous caster tundish nozzle was studied during the time when reoxidation of molten steel was occurring in the tundish. The study revealed that some of the molten FeO formed in the tundish during steel reoxidation remains unreduced and flows through the tundish nozzle into the mold. It also revealed that Al_2O_3 particles, ranging in size from a few mu m to approximately 10 mu m, built up in the tundish nozzle with FeAl_2O_4 forming between the particles. From the results of this study and an analysis made using a newly proposed model for alumina buildup, it is considered that Al_2O_3 particles in the molten steel adhere to the nozzle face with molten FeO serving as a binder, and they are not removed by the molten steel stream running through the nozzle.
