內(nèi)容簡介Magnesia has superior corrosion resistance properties, but is inferior in slaking resistance. In some cases its use is therefore limited in regard to grain grades. It is well known that the presence of boric oxide improves the slaking resistance. This effect is considered to derive from its condition of distribution in the grain boundaries where it encapsulates the periclase crystals without forming solid solution. On that account, the characteristic refractory property of magnesia clinker is deteriorated, and therefore the content of boric oxide has to be limited. As a method to suppress the slaking of magnesia clinker, a solution of a third component into the periclase crystal, one that is not contained in the periclase grain boundary, is considered as well. Nickel oxide is known to form a solid solution with MgO. Therefore, magnesia clinker with added nickel oxide was prepared, and the effect on slaking resistance was investigated.
