內(nèi)容簡介It is difficult to forecast the extent of the future Chinese economic growth rate, but there is a viewpoint that it will continue at least until the Beijing Olympics of 2008 or until the Shanghai Expo of 2010. It is considered that the situation of rising raw materials prices will continue for a while, supported by strong demand at home and abroad. Economic development in China seems likely to continue provided that a big change in the domestic conditions, such as an increase in the disparity between rich and poor, does not occur. Accordingly, it is concluded that the time has already come for investigations on shifting to substitute raw materials and on the purchase of raw materials from countries other than China. In addition, it is necessary to strongly promote cost-reductions to absorb the price rise of raw materials; for example, taking the long view for an effective application of cheaper substitute raw materials or unification of products grade. If Chinese economic growth decreases to some degree after several years, it is reasonable to assume that the present exports of Chinese made refractories, slightly more than 190 thousand tons/year (2003 customs statistics), will increase still more. A request to raise the prices of products to refractory users has been one of the inevitable options for management under the conditions of a sudden increase in raw materials prices. An increase in product prices was partially realized in 2004 after an interval of 12 years, and the situation that another price rise is needed continues in 2005. In conclusion, China differs from Japan and has an opaque and mysterious face in addition to being a great country with the fifth largest GDP in 2003. Accordingly, let me add that there is a possibility that this paper cannot always explain correctly the whole actual state of Chinese raw materials.
