內容簡介Itacolumite is a naturally-occurring sandstone, named for a deposit at Itacolumi in the southern part of Minas Geraes, Brazil. It is composed of quartz grains and mica, with three-dimensional interlocking cracks between the grains (Fig. 1 (a)). By modeling the micro structure of Itacolumite, some flexible ceramics have been prepared. In this work, some microcracked composite samples were prepared by sintering mixes containing materials having different thermal expansion, such as quartz/silica glass. In addition, aluminum titanate (Al_2TiO_5), with many microcracks, was sintered to investigate it's thermal and mechanical behavior.
