內容簡介It is almost impossible to prepare porous ceramics having microstructures the same as wood with present ceramic technology. However, the ceramitization of wood, of which there are numerous kinds with various microstructures, can be useful for diversifying the microstructure of ceramics. Therefore, ceramics manufactured by bio-casting, in which carbon in the wood microstructure acts as a mold and is replaced by or reacts with a metallic element, are expected to produce ceramics with structural functions such as a high strength, lightweight and high toughness as well as low thermal conductivity and good machinability, etc. They are also expected to find applications in physical and medical functions requiring one dimensional pores; for example, catalyst carriers, artificial bones, adsorptive materials, micro-reactors and anisotropic ceramics.
