內容簡介In a previous paper, the authors stated that the setting mechanism of castables was clarified due to sampling and investigation of the mixing water of low-cement castables, using a centrifugal separation procedure, and in cases where the Ca~(2+) ion concentration released from the alumina cement became greater than a certain threshold value, the colloidal matter, consisting of ultrafine powder (less than 10 mu m in diameter), became unsteady to condensate and finally this condensation mechanism brought about the setting behavior of castables. Other authors reported that it was possible to explain the change in Ca~(2+) ion concentration by the following three factors: (1) initial concentration, (2) increasing gradient of the concentration and (3) the threshold value. In these situations, though the various effective methods of retarding the set of castables are well known, little has been written about the methods of accelerating the set of castables. To address this issue, the authors devised an effective method of accelerating the setting time, based on the above-mentioned studies.
