內容簡介A brief review on oxygen separation using mixed conductive ceramic membranes was presented. Previously, Co system perovskite oxides were famous as catalyst materials, but at the beginning of the 1980's the focus of attention on these materials began to be on their oxygen sorptive properties and to applications as oxygen separation membranes. The technology of this field was triggered by Japan. At the beginning of the development and for a short period thereafter, the technology was not much highlighted, However, in the recent ten years there have been new developments in oxygen separation technology using mixed conductive ceramics and investigative activity in both in Japan and abroad became focused on the application in membrane reactor technologies. As background for this activity there is the need to create a sustainable society to address various environmental problems and energy issues worldwide. Ceramic membrane processes are expected to be important candidates in key technologies to solve these issues. To achieve commercial viability as an oxygen separation apparatus, there are many different development themes such as the necessity to improve the oxygen permeation performance by at least one order of magnitude and to improve the resistance to reducing atmospheres. Frankly speaking the current situation of the technology in the field does not go beyond the confines of fundamental research, but at the same time, this is a field where prosperity can be expected in the near future.
