內容簡介Mechanical strength, thermal shock, oxidation and corrosion resistance of the Al_2O_3-SiO_2-SiC-C refractory castables were evaluated for compositions containing 4 and 7 mass% of carbon sources. The castable containing 7 mass% of carbon presented good results of flowability, cold and hot mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. One of the designed compositions was chosen to be applied in a tilting runner and a post mortem study was conducted in order to evaluate its properties, after industrial application. According to the castable performance, the antioxidants were efficient for the carbon protection at the metal-refractory interface. However, at the open tilting's runner region, the carbon oxidation and the thermal oscilation resulted in some damages in the material. Coupled to the lower temperature in the region that might have inhibited the full protection of the carbon by the antioxidant blend, castable's corrosion and peeling-off were also observed at the hot face of the runner. Combining the laboratory results with the industrial performance helps to better define the most relevant properties to select refractories for blast furnace runners.
