How to reduce the resistance and increase the flight velocity of microbionic aircraft is a key issue. Many scientists have conducted a lot of research on natural flyers, such as the dragonfly and eagle, based on bionic principles.[1] Based on many research methods, such as imitating the shape, flapping-wing track, wing vein, fin mole of dragonfly wings, much progress has been made in the design and manufacture of various types of aircraft.[2–4] These efforts proved that the macrostructure plays a significant role in drag reduction in aerodynamics. However, little work has been carried out on the influence and contribution of the micro-nanostructure of flyers’ wings on its drag reduction. We noticed that the dragonfly is an exceptional talent, the maximum flying speed of which can reach 40ms1 (comparable to the sprinting speed of the women’s 100-meter champion) while its body is less than 50mm in length. In this paper, we study the morphology and wettability of the surface of the wings of a dragonfly, and then prepared a biomimetic ZnO nanorodscovered surface through a CVD method. Through an experiment using a rheometer, the effect of fluid drag reduction was proven, which has potential application in the fields of hydrodynamics.
